About
I originally studied Art and Psychology at the University of Arizona. While in Arizona, I worked at the Tucson Museum of Art, and later with Child Protective Services, where I led an art therapy program for "At Risk" and abused children.
I returned to Oklahoma and earned my M.Ed. and Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma in Educational Psychology & Technology with a dual emphasis in Instructional Design. The main focus of both my M.Ed. and Ph.D. was motivation, and the impact of culture has on both learning and motivation. My doctoral research was conducted in both southeast Alaska & throughout the state of Oklahoma, and examined the academic motivation of Alaska Native and American Indian students. More recently, I completed a second Master's degree, focusing on Multicultural Counseling, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Helping Skills. Research interests include Human Motivation, specifically, the role of Culture in Motivation and Learning, Motivation in Distance Learning, and the role of Motivation in PTSD.
